The JOY of Listening

Once you notice the things there are to listen to,
you allow new and wonderful gifts for yourself.
You begin to listen without actually thinking.
When you find your mind thinking,
bring it back to listening.
Any judgments, opinions, stories, beliefs, labels
or concepts that arise might come in.
Note these and then return to listening.
Align yourself with peace, contentment, love, acceptance and JOY.

Check out the Journey of JOY Facebook page.
Give it some L❤VE.

Obstacle: [ob-stuh-kuh l] …something that obstructs or hinders progress.
So what happens when we come upon an obstacle while hiking? We climb over it or walk around it.
What happens when we find obstacles in life? Same thing.
They say that obstacles are what one sees when we take our eyes off our goals. The obstacle can’t stop you no matter what it is or how big it is if you truly want to reach the other side. Other people can’t stop you. Circumstances can’t stop you. The only one that can stop you is yourself. Are you your own obstacle?

climb over it

go through it

work around it

Use that obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow even though it may be difficult. You can give up or you can figure out how to turn it around and make it an opportunity.
What obstacles have you encountered on your journey? How have they strengthened you?
Hindsight is always 20/20. In retrospect, what obstacles have made you grateful and strengthened you?
You poses unstoppable energy to get through any obstacle in your life. You already have everything you need.
Connect and reconnect with your awareness.

“You don’t attract what you want, you attract who you are.”

Walking in Presence

The Path of Presence

May you walk in presence with every step you take.

Being present is being YOU.

You don’t have to wait for everything to be just right.

Just Be.

There is no need for conditions.

Being present is more valuable than any material thing.

When you are present your day will go amazingly different.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing …. be present.

Presence will serve as a pathway to the journey you choose.

No conditions. No alternatives.

Just presence!

Now is the time.

Then . . .

You will be exactly where you are supposed to be.

About the Photo: One of my favorite paths in Ketchikan, Alaska at Totem Bight.

Weekly Photo Challenge: ZigZag

Today I will take one step at a time.
Sometimes I may zig, sometimes I may zag.
But it will always be more interesting than a straight path.

About the photo: Taken under one of the larger Canneries in Southeast Alaska. I was captivated by the reflection more than anything else.
Life is a zigzag but it also has ripples and illusions. That’s what makes the journey interesting.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Summer Lovin'

Ignite your inner fire to follow your dreams and passions.  All you need is a spark to get it started.

Think big!
Dream big!
Don’t compromise your happiness.
Discover YOU!

I greet the summer with great expectations!

Today I choose happiness, success and abundance.

About the photo: It was a cool, summer evening at the beach in Southeast Alaska where we were celebrating our friend’s wedding earlier that day. This beach is famous for its driftwood along the shoreline, so it was easy to make and feed this blazing fire.

Daily Photo Challenge – Extra, Extra

Everything we interact with has something to contribute to our journey.

There are no extra pieces in the universe.
Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill,
and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle.

Failures or Blessings?

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”

~ Albert Einstein, or Ben Franklin, or Mark Twain ~
Somehow we can’t decide who really said this.  AA even takes credit for it!

Many of us try to do the same thing over and over and continually get the same results, like relationships. Do you know people who continually look for the same qualities in a person with many times characteristics that are the same as the last person? That relationship didn’t work out, yet they jump right back into the frying pan again with another person who displays many of the same characteristics of the last relationship.

So next time we try something different. But is it really “different”?  Do try this again in a slightly different way hoping for a different outcome in an attempt to avoid failure again. But is it really failure?  Or is it a lesson that life is teaching us?

Really, when you analyze the saying, it is contradictory. If you do the same thing over and over you do get the same results, as in a chemistry experiment. If you expect different results, you are probably not doing the exact thing or your expectations are based on another result. You try something different hoping for a different outcome. When you do the same thing over and over you intend to get the same results.

Instead, this time, we ask for an entirely different outcome, or leave it up to the Universe to guide us on the path that we should be traveling. Whether it is looking for a mate or another career path, decide what is it that you really want? Leave the past behind. It’s all happened. You can’t do anything about it. It’s history. What’s next?

Turn your failures into blessings!

All those previous “unsuccessful” moments were just leading up to this moment.

It all begins with: Who am I? What is my purpose?

Today is a day of new beginnings. Today is a day of taking the first steps toward a new journey. Take time today to celebrate your choice to live in your own truths, mindfully doing what you were meant to do and with your entire body, mind and spirit. Create a space to manifest your dreams, your new life and your heart’s desire.

Welcome to your journey!

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

I’m pretty sure

Weekly Photo Challenge: Family

Five sisters (my aunts and mom) donned in their Easter finest probably during the early 40’s somewhere in New Jersey.

It was always a family tradition to pose together before leaving and going back to our respective homes.
Pictured here are the cousins and uncles down the shore at my aunt’s house.  This is one of my favorite pictures.

I have no idea who any of these people are but they are some of my family in Italy.
I am thankful for each of them even though I never met any of them,
because without them, I wouldn’t be here to share this special photo with you.
Check out those hats, would you???

Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie

In all things of nature, there is something of the marvelous.

~ Aristotle ~

We walked this way many times on a local hiking path but this day we noticed the face-of-a-man-rock lurking along the path.  Its mysterious shadows yet stalwart gaze gave us an eerie feeling.  Was this Mother Nature’s way of watching us?  Maybe it was the way the shadows fell across the face of the rock from the setting sun that we hadn’t noticed before.  Or perhaps it was Mother Nature’s way of letting us know we were protected or maybe she was just being humorous.  Either way, it was something to marvel at.

What would an ocean be without a monster lurking in the dark? It would be like sleep without dreams.
~ Werner Herzog ~

Or how about this sea monster located off Peratrovich Island in Southeast Alaska?  The tides draped him with ‘Pop-weed” or more officially Bladderwrack, which, by-the-way, is mineral and iodine-rich when used in cooking and some of the best garden fertilizer around.  None-the-less, an eerie creature indeed as we slowly paddled by on our kayaks.  Once again, another marvel of nature.

Check out more “eerie” stuff here.

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Lines to Patterns

From Lines to Patterns . . . they are everywhere: in our art, in nature, in us and around us.  But do we notice?

Take time today to notice lines and patterns around you.  Become aware of your surroundings and appreciate them and who you are.
I love seeing art like this, usually not knowing who the artist is, yet, I am attracted to it and usually take a close up photo.  Here’s just a few in my collection of lines to patterns:
And while you are here, stop over at my Tree of Life site and check out more lines and patterns.
