Grounding Ourselves to the Earth

We hear the word “grounding” a lot these days.

But what is it, really?

Grounding, also known as Earthing, is a way for us to bring ourselves back to the Earth, to the reality of what is, to the present moment. Some of us are more prone to this, others have a difficult time being firmly rooted in their body. Grounding provides your body with abundant electrons directly from the Earth.
If you are one of those people that has a hard time with Grounding, perhaps the best way to begin to realize how to ground is through our breath. Take a few deep breaths and feel, really feel, your breath going in and out of your body. Feel your belly rise and fall with each breath. Then, feel the sensations in your body from head to toe. Really concentrate on this for a few moments each day and soon you will know and feel what it means to be grounded. And you will most likely do it unconsciously as a daily routine.
Taking it a step farther, you can imagine that roots are growing from your feet and there by connecting you to the Earth. This powerful energy from the Earth proves most beneficial as a practice to move our lives in the direction we want it to flow. Grounding is a sacred Union with the Universe. It brings us into a conscious awareness of the sensations in our body. When we are Grounded we are more productive. We can think things through on a more conscious and awakened level.
Studies have shown that when we Ground, it improves our heart rate, our sleep patterns, our autonomic nervous system’s balance, and significantly reduces stress and cortisol, and it has an impact on body inflammation so we function better. This could be the missing link to getting and staying healthy.  Some say that Grounding or Earthing is the most important health discovery ever.
In today’s world, we all wear rubber or plastic-soled shoes, and sleep on synthetic mattresses, no longer connecting us to the Earth and this prevents the Earth’s electrons from entering our bodies. These negative charges, which are always available through the Earth, have been known to prevent inflammation of damaging our healthy tissues.  A person who is Grounded is less stressed and more relaxed.
Grounding ourselves, especially at the beginning of each day, is a very beneficial practice to do. It’s very simple: Just bring consciously awareness to your body as you walk around each day. An exercise to practice is to find a patch of green grass, take off your shoes and just walk mindfully. This helps us to Ground in a more positive way without having to imagine doing it.
Some things you can do in your home to help you to stay Grounded is to turn your cell phones off, eliminate WiFi by using an Ethernet cable, thus eliminating EMF’s into your house.

Still Waters Run Deep

Still Waters Run Deep!

On the ocean surface we see and feel waves, movement and magical rhythms, ebbing to and fro. Just under layer are currents of motion, where you see schools of life.  These are places where you can see and feel the movement and rhythms. But when you go deeper into the profound stillness of the depths of the sea, that’s where there is pure silence and where a deep peace abounds.
Just as with our thoughts, when we go deeper, into the depths of our being, we profoundly become one with ourselves. It’s where our deepest gratitude and appreciation of beauty and space lie. This is the place where we are authentic. This is our meditative state.

Drum Beats of the Spirit and Life

Drumming is the oldest form of music that renews our rhythms and is likened to the heartbeat of a mother when we were in the womb.  In Native American cultures drumming is used as a means to reconnect our physical and spiritual selves and put us in touch with our natural rhythms. It is also a very important part of ceremonies, rituals and celebrations of life cycles.  It puts us in tune with the rhythms of the earth and a deep place within to make us aware of our body, mind and spirit while relieving tensions, stress and aggressive feelings. It restores our energy and vibrations to bring us closer to Mother Earth and powerfully moves us toward a new level of conscious awareness.

“We are a tribe, a cauldron of potential, a seed of possibility. We are women growing, learning, deepening, clearing, opening. We are gathering. We are healing. We are ready to be in service to a new way of living, to sharing our authentic, sassy, bright, quiet, loud, vulnerable, powerful selves.”

No Judgement. No Resistance.

No Judgment. No Resistance.

Why is it that we cling to our negative experiences? Sometimes for days, weeks, months, years, or even for our entire lives. These feelings and emotions are toxic and stand in our way of allowing our lives to expand and flow. Instead we feed on our pain-body, as Eckhart Tolle calls it.
We must develop a receptiveness to all experiences … no judgement, no resistance. Release attachment to your fears, your judgments, and become fully present. This is a powerful way to awaken to all the wonderful possibilities that are waiting for you.

May we all be free of pain and suffering.  ~Buddhist Prayer ~

Letting Go of Judgments

Today I will let go of all judgments.

How often do we go through the day making judgments? Stop for a moment and think about that. It’s something that we may do unconsciously. We label things, people or actions. We define them in our own critical way. Where there is criticism, there is no love. We evaluate and analyse our co-workers, family or friends. Judgment means putting things in a category or classifing things or people. We call them right or wrong in our opinion.
Instead, today, make yourself aware of what you are judging and analyzing and let go of the need to label anything. Think about what happens when we judge someone. It makes them feel wrong, hurt or separated and isolated from you. This is how the ego defends itself. Actually, this is a disconnection from your true self, thus building up walls and shutting off the flow of Source.
When we stop judgment and criticism, we are basically saying to ourselves that we are willing to let things flow before making a decision on the outcome, person or situation, whether it is good or bad.
Today I will let go of all judgments so that I can experience a flow and silence within.
Today I will be the watcher instead of letting my ego take control of my thoughts.
Today I will align myself with the Universe and letting go of all my judgments that may creep into my mind.
Today I will not label the actions of anyone.
Today I will not evaluate or judge any circumstances.
Today I will not analyse the outcome of anything.
Today I will let go of all judgments.
Today I will be aware of my thoughts.
And so it is!
And while you are here, check this out.

The fastest way to attract something . . .

The fastest way to attract something is to simply expect it.

The Universe has everything you need and it is willing to give it to you. All you have to do is ask for it. Manifest it. Expect it!
We get what we pay attention to. If you focus on happiness, that’s what you will get. Focus on the positive, get positive results.
After awhile you will see that things you paid attention to start to show up in your life.
So get rid of the lack mindset and know that everything in the Universe is available to you.
When we understand what truly fulfills us, it will allow us to lead a life of gratitude. It is easy to get wrapped up in material things that we think will fill our emptiness. So, we go out shopping and by something that draws us in. But after a while we find that it no longer brings us contentment.
We then realize that by pampering our inner needs, we find greater satisfaction in life.

  • Today, pamper your inner needs and be thankful for everything you already have.
  • Start a Gratitude Journal to track your thankfulness progress.
  • Before you get out of bed in the morning, take a few deep breaths. Then think of 10 things that you are grateful for.
  • Set an intention for the day to be happy, to be thankful or to be focused on your inner self.
  • Manifest your intentions! Expect it and it will show up in your life.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure

Have you ever really thought what you treasure most? What do you hold most dear in your life?  We take so much for granted, yet if any one thing is removed, we miss it.
I am not referring to things you can buy, but instead, health, family, friends, the love of a partner, your brain and the ability to think, do and create, a positive outlook, awareness, gratitude, happiness, integrity, knowledge and life itself.
We are all blessed in so many ways. Where you find treasure, therein is your heart. Few people actually discover the real treasures of life. They are seeking material objects from the outside world. Going within is where our real treasures lie.
What do you treasure most in your life?

What's the Word?

I don’t do resolutions.
Instead, every year I choose a word that I want to focus on.
Usually I print it out and place it in various places where I can see it …. the bathroom mirror, the coffee maker, the car.
Previously words have been  “shift” (twice), “presence” (2013), “love”, “clarity” and “balance” to name a few.

This year I have chosen the word “happiness” .
Isn’t that what we all really want?  To be happy.
What’s your happiness IQ?  Does it change from day to day, hour by hour?
What we believe and tell ourselves or self talk, on a regular basis shapes our happiness level.
Have you heard yourself say ….  I wish I were happy. I am always broke. I can’t seem to get ahead. I hate the way I look.
What if you told yourself this?
I love the way I look when I see myself in the mirror.
I have an abundant and happy life.
I feel connected to Nature and all living things.
I am living the life I have always dreamed about.
Each day when I awake, I commit to loving myself fully and caring for my body with nutritious food, plenty of rest, inspiring relationships and happiness.

Happiness is in the Present.

Change your thoughts
and you change your world.

The greatest discovery of our generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.
As you think, so shall you be.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Layers

When everything in our lives is flowing with ease and joy, it’s easy to feel we are living in harmony. But when the complicated layers and gaps come into our lives, we tend to get caught up in our thoughts. We begin to self talk ourselves right into a reactive mode.
That’s when it is time to settle our thoughts and detach from them.

There is no such thing as a success or a failure in our lives, only the present moment which, if we are aware, is filled with endless possibilities.
Every day gives us a chance to start over. However, we need to be still for a few moments, breath and find what gifts are here for us to enjoy, savor and experience. These are the gifts of grace and abundance.
Find the gift and connect to the truth.
Clear the space and tap into your resilience and true potential.
What is the universe unveiling for you?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Saturated

Saturated!  With color.  With paint.  With creativity.

This masterpiece was an ever evolving painting at an Interactive Art Exhibit at the BIL Converence 2012.  It gave all of us grownups a chance to be a child again.  I returned the next day and found it had changed entirely as each artist that came alone added their own touch of color, style and creativity to the painting.
As Picasso states …. grown ups need to reflect back to childhood more often in order to feel, see and experience our creativity.  When’s the last time you acted like a child?   If you don’t feel like a child, hang out with one and see how they make you feel.
