Let It Go . . .

As humans, we continually want to be in control of everything. We want to be in control of ourselves, others, our stuff, other people’s stuff, every outcome. That tends to stifle us and compartmentalize us and everything around us.

But when we let go, get in the flow, release all expectations to the outcome,
we let go of the need to control and thus tap into our unlimited source of creativity.

So today, start a new project. Perhaps you are an artist. Take a piece of paper and just start drawing randomly on it. Don’t erase anything, just draw lines, circles, squiggles. Even if you think you make a mistake, just keep going and see what happens. Remember, no expectations to the outcome. Simply let what happens happen. It may surprise you. And in the process you will release your need for control.

By letting go of control, we can tap into our unlimited source of creativity. May times we have a picture in our minds of how we expect things to be and most likely, it doesn’t turn out that way in the end. But as we continue on, we may notice that what we have created isn’t really what we had in mind at all, and that’s OK. By letting go of our expectations we become more creative and allow ourselves to let go. So go out there and unleash your power.

Let go. Allow. Create. Just Be.

Solstice …. a Time of New Beginnings

Happy Solstice !

Arise, shine, for your light has come!”
~ George Frideric Handel ~

Like our ancestors have done from the beginning of time, today we honor the cycles and the seasons. Since ancient times to this present day, we have been celebrating special days that mark the passage of time. Today we celebrate the longest night and the shortest day. This is a reminder to us of the ever-changing flow of life that we are all a part. Celebrate the rebirth of the sun and our community of life on this earth and a time to celebrate our ancestors and our living loved ones.
Ritual acts give life meaning, honor and acknowledge the unseen web of Life that connects us all to Source. This is a meaningful way to gather with friends and honor the true spirit of the season, setting aside all the traditions of the modern world in which marking tactics encourage us to buy more things we don’t really need. Let us be in gratitude for all our abundance and what we already have.
During the Winter and Summer Solstice, the sun rises and sets in visibly the same location in the sky, whereas during the rest of the year, it moves across the sky from day to day. We welcome the return of longer days until the Summer Solstice.
Through simple acts of connection and community, we have that natural impulse to “go within” at this blessed time of year, a time for New Beginnings. This is a time for us to reclaim our connection to the Source of all life to commemorate this pivotal moment in time as we look at ourselves inwardly and re-kindle our inner fire.

Together, let us welcome the darkness.

Together, let us remember and honor the Sun’s brilliant light.

Here’s some things to do for your Winter Solstice ceremony.

  1. Light a main candle. Each person in turn lights their candle and places in a circle around the main candle. Once all the candles are lit say in unison “Happy Solstice”. Your table could be decorated with things from Nature like pine branches, pine cones, pods, logs or bark.
  2. Hand out small pieces of paper and pens. Each person write down something they want to release from their life. It could be a bad habit, ending a relationship, changing locations or an obstacle that has been in their way. Everyone gather around the fire. Center your thoughts for a few moments on what you have written. Give it up to the Universe. Then, each take a turn throwing their paper into the fire releasing their intention. Seal the ritual with drumming, dancing and singing.
  3. On another piece of paper write your intention or a word for the coming year. It could be a phrase or just one word. Perhaps the word “shift” , “presence” or “allow”, follow your dream, connect with a loved one you haven’t seen in awhile, leave your ego behind or get healthy. Pause for a reflection on the past season and the coming year with quietness and reverence. Perhaps have a time of sharing your intention. Keep this paper and place it somewhere in your home where you will be reminded of it for the coming year.

Solstice Blessings!

Happy Longer Days.

Return to Light.

From Chaos to Stillness

Times are difficult globally; awakening is no longer a luxury or an ideal.   It’s becoming critical.

We don’t need to add more depression, more discouragement, more anger to what’s already here.

It’s becoming essential that we learn how to relate sanely to difficult times.

The Earth seems to be beseeching us to connect with joy and discover our innermost essence.

This is the best way we can benefit others.

Obstacle: [ob-stuh-kuh l] …something that obstructs or hinders progress.
So what happens when we come upon an obstacle while hiking? We climb over it or walk around it.
What happens when we find obstacles in life? Same thing.
They say that obstacles are what one sees when we take our eyes off our goals. The obstacle can’t stop you no matter what it is or how big it is if you truly want to reach the other side. Other people can’t stop you. Circumstances can’t stop you. The only one that can stop you is yourself. Are you your own obstacle?

climb over it

go through it

work around it

Use that obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow even though it may be difficult. You can give up or you can figure out how to turn it around and make it an opportunity.
What obstacles have you encountered on your journey? How have they strengthened you?
Hindsight is always 20/20. In retrospect, what obstacles have made you grateful and strengthened you?
You poses unstoppable energy to get through any obstacle in your life. You already have everything you need.
Connect and reconnect with your awareness.

Your Life …. Your Masterpiece

Live your life like a work of art.
~ Wayne Dyer ~

What would it be like to live your life like a work of art in progress?

How would your life be if you treated it like a masterpiece that you are working on every day?
Look at the lives of your heroes.  Who is your most influential person that left a positive impression on you? Someone that stands heads above the rest with a message that you want to emulate. What was their approach to love and living a life of success and contentment, serving and giving of their ideals and what they taught?
We spend our entire lives trying to be successful, to perform up to the standards of our peers and achieve what others have. It’s like we are on a wheel, chasing our own tail, competing with everyone around us.
How much  does this all matter to you?
When you tune in to the things we stand for, the things that mean something to us, they will show up in our life.
What are you here for? How are you going to live your life? How will you serve others? Is this important to you?
Your life becomes a beautiful piece of art, perfect and in harmony with the Universe. Everything that you asked for will show up in some way or another. It may not be exactly as you wanted, but the Universe will bring it to you as it is supposed to be.
Now, go get to work on your masterpiece and see what shows up. What will your masterpiece look like?

Weekly Photo Challenge: ZigZag

Today I will take one step at a time.
Sometimes I may zig, sometimes I may zag.
But it will always be more interesting than a straight path.

About the photo: Taken under one of the larger Canneries in Southeast Alaska. I was captivated by the reflection more than anything else.
Life is a zigzag but it also has ripples and illusions. That’s what makes the journey interesting.

Don’t compromise your happiness.
Discover YOU!

I greet the summer with great expectations!

Today I choose happiness, success and abundance.

About the photo: It was a cool, summer evening at the beach in Southeast Alaska where we were celebrating our friend’s wedding earlier that day. This beach is famous for its driftwood along the shoreline, so it was easy to make and feed this blazing fire.

Daily Photo Challenge – Extra, Extra

Everything we interact with has something to contribute to our journey.

There are no extra pieces in the universe.
Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill,
and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle.

Failures or Blessings?

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”

~ Albert Einstein, or Ben Franklin, or Mark Twain ~
Somehow we can’t decide who really said this.  AA even takes credit for it!

Many of us try to do the same thing over and over and continually get the same results, like relationships. Do you know people who continually look for the same qualities in a person with many times characteristics that are the same as the last person? That relationship didn’t work out, yet they jump right back into the frying pan again with another person who displays many of the same characteristics of the last relationship.

So next time we try something different. But is it really “different”?  Do try this again in a slightly different way hoping for a different outcome in an attempt to avoid failure again. But is it really failure?  Or is it a lesson that life is teaching us?

Really, when you analyze the saying, it is contradictory. If you do the same thing over and over you do get the same results, as in a chemistry experiment. If you expect different results, you are probably not doing the exact thing or your expectations are based on another result. You try something different hoping for a different outcome. When you do the same thing over and over you intend to get the same results.

Instead, this time, we ask for an entirely different outcome, or leave it up to the Universe to guide us on the path that we should be traveling. Whether it is looking for a mate or another career path, decide what is it that you really want? Leave the past behind. It’s all happened. You can’t do anything about it. It’s history. What’s next?

Turn your failures into blessings!

All those previous “unsuccessful” moments were just leading up to this moment.

It all begins with: Who am I? What is my purpose?

Today is a day of new beginnings. Today is a day of taking the first steps toward a new journey. Take time today to celebrate your choice to live in your own truths, mindfully doing what you were meant to do and with your entire body, mind and spirit. Create a space to manifest your dreams, your new life and your heart’s desire.

Welcome to your journey!

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

I’m pretty sure
~Mark Twain ~
