Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You

I decided to do some research on what colors mean to you personally and I am finding it very fascinating.  I am still working other colors and will share more later.  But for now, it’s purple!!

If you love purple . . .

  • Purple people are sensitive and supportive, always thinking of others rather than themselves. However, we must be careful not to get taken advantage of.
  • We love peace and quiet.  That means that we give the impression that we are shy but it truly is not the case.
  • Creative beings?  Yes!  Especially when it comes to our surroundings and appearance, and did I mention that we love all things eclectic and unconventional?
  • Purple beings have a great imagination and we tend to see the world through rose, I mean, purple tinted glasses.  However, we are continually looking for the meaning of life through spirituality.
  • We are generous with our gifts and rarely ask for anything in return.
  • Many of us are very secretive and private.
  • “Purpular” People have difficulty dealing with crowds and choose individuality over trying to copy others.
  • We have a passion for wanting to make this world a better place, many times holding positions where we can help that dream come true.
  • Our spirits are usually high and we love to travel and explore different cultures, not to mention meeting new friends.  We pride ourselves in being good judges of character.
  • At times, we take on too many projects and it can cause us stress.  So we resort to mediation to bring ourselves back to balance.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Infinite

Steven Wright, one of my favorite people, said …. “I’m so tired. I was up all night trying to round off infinity.” I love his simply stated humor, with a twist.  Today I am going to look at the world differently, with a twist of humor.  I wonder how things will evolve? We’ll see!!!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Good Morning!

Good Morning!

How do you start your day? Are your mornings filled with mayhem or meditation?  How do you feel when your feet hit the floor?  Do you wake up happy or have you fallen into the rut of hitting the snooze a few too many times?

Here’s ten ways to get your day off to a good start …

1.  Awaken your senses.  When you wake, open the curtains and let the sunlight in.  Wake up on the bright side of life. Turn on some uplifting music. Take a few deep breaths. Concentrate on one thing at a time, don’t try to multitask first thing in the morning.
2.  Stretch.  If you have a cat …. watch what it does in the morning …. it elongates the spine and stretches out the arms and legs, one at a time.  Reach for the sky. Loosen those joints and muscles.

3.  Set your intention for the day.  Starting your day out with a positive affirmation makes all the difference in the world.  Recall that intention during the day.  Start by being grateful for something every day.

4.  Meditate for at least 10 minutes before you begin your day, even before your morning coffee or tea. Does your mind start to randomly jump from one thought to another when you awaken? That’s called the “monkey mind”.  When you start your day off with your breath in the morning, you are more aware of your thoughts and have the ability to keep  your monkey mind thoughts in check. You can control your thoughts and enhance your awareness.

5.  Go outside and breath in the fresh air.  Take a morning walk or run and get your body moving.  I find that if I don’t do this in the morning, I won’t do it any time during the day.  I make excuses like now it’s too hot or I get busy with my daily routines. Moving in the morning helps get your day off to a good start and you will feel more energized throughout the day.

6.  Use your morning shower to not only cleanse your body but your mind as well. Focus on positive thoughts and be aware of the water pressure stimulating the muscles of your body.  Be aware of the warmth and be thankful for all you have been blessed with.

7.  Fuel your body with a good breakfast, not loaded with sweets but with high protein and some fruit.  And don’t forget to take your vitamins.  Put your health first.  Eat healthy and organic all through the day.

8.  Journal your thoughts. Start a journal and write down your first thoughts of the day.  Then, write a check list of the things you want to accomplish during the day.

9.  Do something special for yourself each day. You are worth it.  Don’t be so hard on yourself. Some days will  be harder than others. Once you start a routine or practice it will come naturally to you and you will feel the benefits. Keep practicing.

10.  Commit to the process.  Do these things for 21 days and it will become second nature to you. Be patient with yourself.
