Edit Your Life

You can choose to accept how your life is right now …..
or you can create a life that fulfills you in every way.

Our lives are like a play or movie script. Did you know that you have the power to “edit” it when you feel things aren’t going the way you planned? This can be very empowering.  You can “cut” the things that aren’t working for you and replace them with positive thoughts and actions. You write the story of your own life for you are its star of the show.
We all have the ability within us to look at what is working or what is not working and change it accordingly. As your life evolves, you have the choice to accept it as you have planned it or you can edit it again and again. You are responsible for what you create and you can thus have the life you always dreamed about.
However, editing your life isn’t always easy. When we have unhealthy relationships that have been with us for long periods of time or if we are carrying around the beliefs that we have grown up with, these may cause us difficulty when we try to “erase” those lines in the script. We might have to disassociate ourselves from the people we are hanging around with or we might have to leave some emotional baggage at the dumpster of life.
When we eliminate the negative things in our lives, that creates space for positive things to enter like new, healthy relationships and positive experiences. Just as you have the power to edit out the negative, you can invite the positive into your life and fill it with beliefs that serve you better than your old style of living.
So how is all this possible?
To begin ….. start with your thought process.  Are you mostly thinking negative or positive things? When you ask yourself about the people and experiences that no longer serve you, can you make a commitment to yourself to remove them? This might require a lot of editing but well worth it in the end.  Through this experience, you want to be patient and compassionate with yourself and not beat yourself up through this process. Breath deeply and meditate as you consider the next lines you will write in your script. Contemplate and manifest how you want your story to read.
Ask yourself about the joyful moments that you have already experienced in your life. How can you make them happen again and again? How can you make them a part of your life again? Take some time to do this. It doesn’t happen overnight. When you consciously make room for improvement and new experiences in your life you will find happiness and JOY in abundance. It’s all about what you are telling yourself in your every day thoughts.
Edit out the negative and replace it with the positive. It sounds simple and with continued effort it will bring you the life you want, on your terms, in your own space. No one can take that away from you. You are the creator of your life. Clear out what no longer serves you and replace it with your dreams and manifestations.
When you have a clear purpose for your life, you can rewrite the script any time you want.

That Other Energy

Did you ever encounter someone who gave off negative vibrations when you were around them? We all have experienced this in some way or another. These people leave you with an uneasy feeling, perhaps making your solar plexus tighten, or you feel stress in your neck and shoulders. You feel drained and your energy level is compromised because they exhaust you. Perhaps being in a crowd of people lowers your energy levels and makes you feel uneasy.  You feel depleted when you take on another’s energy or are around negativity. Sensitive people tend to feel these toxic people more when they are around them.
So how do we deal with these feelings?

One of the ways is to breath deeply and center yourself. Breathing is of utmost importance.

Imagine that you are covered in loving, white light shielding you with a protective layer of positive energy.

You may also want to smudge yourself with sage, sing or go for a walk in Nature after you encounter this negativity.

Allow the energy of laughter and love to calm your mind. Think of something funny or an incident that made you smile.

Spend time with a baby or small child. This will always bring delight and joy watching them being present as only a child can do.

Stay in the company of those that you enjoy being around and those who support and nurture you.

What Are You Thinking?

Perhaps you had a really good day. Everything went as you planned but when you get home you walk into a house of quarreling and drama from other members of your household. It’s hard to keep that good feeling that you had earlier, isn’t it? Perhaps even to the extent that you can’t sleep because the issue wasn’t resolved. If you notice your breathing, it’s shallow and irregular. Your head is hurting and your shoulders feel tense and stiff. You have a lump in your gut. Maybe you think you might feel better if you eat something or have a drink but trying to cover up those emotions without controlling your thoughts is like “trying to keep your computer in good shape by managing the hardware but not the software,” as Ilchi Lee writes. The way that you respond to this type of drama is entirely up to you. You can allow it to “get” to you or you can let it go. It’s your choice.
Lee continues, “It’s not easy to control your mind as you desire, but it’s definitely not impossible. You simply need practice.”  We all need to practice controlling our thoughts and emotions.
By observing our thoughts, or being the watcher, we can all control our thoughts. The mind is a powerful thing and it has the ability to do just that. We just have to know how to control our thoughts through this power.
When we identify with our thoughts we do not change our perception. Instead, we become that thought and identify with it. Rather than identify with those thoughts we simply tell ourselves that we are having that thought. Allow it to be, then separate yourself from it. Acknowledge that you had the thought and that it is not you. Instead of saying, “I am angry” state to yourself that “I have anger right now.”
“In that moment, thought and feeling become objects separated from your mind. You become able to make a wiser, more considerate choice instead of acting in a way that’s dictated by a negative thought or feeling,” explains Lee.

By affirming that your thoughts and emotions are just that: thoughts and emotions, you will discover your strength and power to return to your center, to be focused and calm amid all the drama.

What are you thinking?

When you stop and think about it, negative thoughts are simply things that you don’t want. Positive thoughts are about what you do want. So which do you focus on more . . . the positive or the negative? For most people, it’s the negative, without a doubt. We are addicted to thinking about negative things. The words of sabotaging self-talk that we say to ourselves, rethinking unhappy events and memories of the past and the images that come up in our minds are all examples of negative thoughts. We do it without even thinking twice about it.
We judge everything and anything with negative thoughts. We focus on what we don’t like about ourselves, yet strive to be perfect, which is just another way of saying that we are self-judging. Then we rationalize these negative thoughts and give ourselves permission to continue to think on them, which only creates more self-doubt and negative thoughts about the things we don’t want. Our negative thoughts then put us in a bad mood and everyone around us keeps their distance. We worry about trivial things while telling ourselves stories in our heads that we know aren’t true.

So, instead of directing our thinking into negative, fear-based paths, or being overwhelmed at any given moment, let us be aware and open the door of change. If you suffer from depression, stop and do a reality check as to what you are saying to yourself in your head. First, stop focusing on what you DON’T want, then change your thought patterns and focus on what you DO want.

If a thought makes you feel bad, sad, angry or conjures up some emotions that bring in fear, jealousy or a numb feeling, then it is a negative thought. Your feelings guide your thoughts inside and out. Step outside yourself and feel what you are feeling. Feel the emotions that you are experiencing. Pay attention to your ego and what is going on with it. When you focus on what is wrong, you miss the true purpose of turning it into a positive solution.

Be the Master of your mind.
Your life is only as good as your thoughts.

 When you become the Master of your mind you can overcome all the obstacles, like depression, anger, fear, jealousy or self-judgement. However, it takes determination and making a conscious effort to change your thinking.
So, how do you do this?
  • Negative thoughts are like reading a chapter of a book over and over. You never get to the next chapter or get on with the plot. It’s time to turn the page, or better yet, start another book. And that takes courage to think empowering thoughts instead of the negative ones that have been with your for years and years. Just remember, it is your ticket for getting yourself out of your funk and stop reinforcing the same old belief systems. You and only you have the choice to think what you want.
  • Next, take responsibility for your thought. Become aware of every thought that goes through you head. Then focus on the solution. Instead of thinking of the negative aspect of a thought or situation, turn it into a positive thought.
  • Let go of the negative thoughts, become aware of them and you will be surprised how you life will change. Stop the “shoulds” and the “buts” and the “I can’ts” and the excuses and allow yourself to think positive thoughts.
  • A very important thing to do through all of this is to eliminate negative and toxic people from your life. Stick with the positive people and those that make you feel good. Learn to set your own boundaries and not allow negative conversation, gossip, drama or judgmental talk about another person or situation.
  • Read inspirational and self-help books, watch YouTube videos or listen to uplifting music. This helps you feel better about yourself and instills the positive instead of the negative.
  • Love yourself and be kind to yourself. When you practice positive thoughts, you will feel better and then wait til you see how your day unfolds. Look for the good in others too. It will change your perspective of everything and everyone when you look deeper than just the superficial layer of thoughts.
Your mind is a beautiful thing. Fill it with kindness and joy. Get on the path of awareness, wellness and abundance. Be the Master of your Mind.

Still Waters Run Deep!

On the ocean surface we see and feel waves, movement and magical rhythms, ebbing to and fro. Just under layer are currents of motion, where you see schools of life.  These are places where you can see and feel the movement and rhythms. But when you go deeper into the profound stillness of the depths of the sea, that’s where there is pure silence and where a deep peace abounds.
Just as with our thoughts, when we go deeper, into the depths of our being, we profoundly become one with ourselves. It’s where our deepest gratitude and appreciation of beauty and space lie. This is the place where we are authentic. This is our meditative state.

Do You Feel It?

When we look at the world through the eyes that have been viewing the same situations of our past we keep ourselves stuck in the same place. When we use the same logic and conclusions in our minds that have not served us in the past, we block ourselves from enjoying the richness and fullness that life has in store for us.
It’s these thoughts that continue to bubble up inside our heads and keep us stuck. It’s these thoughts that we are not good enough, not rich enough, not smart enough, not lovable or even attractive enough. You fill in the blanks.
When we stay in this power we cannot create abundance for ourselves because we identify ourselves as being in the position of a victim.
If we are facing a situation of fear or anger and we stay in the same mind-set, there is little chance that we will be able to reach a state of peace and understanding when we are telling ourselves how angry or fearful we are inside. It’s all about “self-talk” and what we talk about in our heads that keep us in a state of drama and restlessness.
BUT when we change our thoughts, shift our power, and step outside our limitations, that’s when we see the bigger picture. When we open our minds to the possibilities of what could be and what we deserve, these emotions fall away to positive and expanding possibilities. When we connect ourselves to our inner wisdom, see and feel the underlying causes of our drama and emotions, step away and view them from another perspective, then we see the world in a different way of peace and love. As Einstein says, when we raise our consciousness and allow ourselves to shift into our power and embrace ourselves with love and affection, we see the world in a different way.

So how do we do that? 

1.  Breathe. Stop what you are doing and feel your breath. Breathe in and out. If your mind starts jumping around with thoughts, stay with it. Just keep focusing on your breath.
2.  Accept what is. Feel your emotions fully. If it is anger, step outside your mind for a moment and feel what is going on. You can even give it a shape or color or sound to help you feel it. That will help it to dissipate.
3.  Focus on what is going on outside. If it doesn’t help to feel what is going on inside, focus on the outside. What do you feel? Are you sweating? Does your stomach feel like it’s in knots? Distract your mind with something that makes you feel good, like taking a walk in Nature, noticing the trees, flowers, or birds. Listen to music. Crank it up. Feel the beat. Do something that you haven’t done for yourself in a while, like play on the swings at the local play ground, talk to a stranger and compliment them in some way. Buy yourself a little something special.
4.  This too shall pass. If you are still scared, or angry or fearful, tell yourself that this will not last forever, even though it feels like it will. It won’t. It’s all part of life’s dance and something sent to use as a learning tool. Inside you are still a worthy and lovable person. You are worthy of respect and yes, shit happens to all of us.
5.  Don’t try to solve the problem. When you feel overwhelmed, it’s natural to want to alleviate the situation so you feel better. However, it’s probably not going to go away immediately, so sleep on it or talk to someone to get their perspective. Allow yourself to get more centered before trying to fix the problem.
6.  Look at the world from a different perspective. Change your state.  Treat yourself with love and care that you deserve. Mentally, challenge yourself to look at the world with another perspective. Do you feel the difference?

Distracting Thoughts

What negative thoughts distract you? Thinking of what others have done? Or what they havee not done? Telling yourself stories in your head? Focusing on the past? Or the future?
Are you aware of these negative thoughts? They are a distraction. When we focus on negative thoughts we block the way for being in the present moment and experiencing true happiness, joy, love and conscious living.
But …. being aware of what is really happening every day, every moment, is difficult. It takes work. It takes choice. And only you can make that decision.
How many times have you had worries or made up a story in your mind that was absolutely untrue? These stories come from our former beliefs, those thoughts we grew up with, and the judgments that we carry with us throughout our lives. We have trained ourselves to judge and criticize others and ourselves, not to have self-empathy and self-compassion, telling ourselves that we don’t deserve what we have. It comes from the opinions that we have held for years and years. It could be about ourselves or someone else. In the end, it just makes us sad and depressed, worried and unhappy. Somehow it just seems easier to keep those self-criticisms and live with them day after day rather than letting them go.
As youngsters we learned to pay attention to what we were thinking. Can’t you hear your Mom telling you to pay attention right now? We have become so used to paying attention that we forget about what is really going on around us in the present moment. Or one person tells us that we can’t do something right and we believe it and carry it with us for the rest of our life. As we grow older, we hold on to all those negative sayings and thoughts and tell them to ourselves every day. It’s the same ole, same ole day in and day out. We are living in our heads instead of our hearts.
It took years to build these thoughts and feelings of the Ego so it can be difficult to let go of them.  The Egoic Mind, as Eckhart Tolle says, is a reflection of our childhood beliefs that we grew up with and we have been relying on them and telling ourselves stories stemming from these thoughts for years and years.

It’s time for change.

It’s time to make the choice to get our of our heads and into our Inner Being. Let go of the worry, the stories, the fears and just be.

So how do you do this? I could tell you what I am experiencing as I sit here typing this into my blog. But you wouldn’t feel it. Only I can feel it. You have to experience being aware for yourself. No one can do it for you.
First, be aware of what is happening in this very moment. What are you thinking right now? Is it positive or negative? Feel where you body is right now. If you are sitting in front of the computer, feel your body in the chair, feet on the floor, feel your back against the chair. Really stop to feel these sensations. Is the air around you warm or cool? Is your body warm or cool, or just right? What do you smell? What do you see in front of you? What do you hear inside or outside? Now do you hear the birds singing? So many times we are unaware of their beautiful symphonies until we stop and listen.
By becoming aware we allow our senses to feel the juiciness of our being. Give yourself love and compassion because you do deserve it. Tell this to yourself every day, several times a day. When you walk past a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and say, “I love you!” And really mean it.
Add awareness to your thoughts this coming week. When you add awareness to your behavior, feelings or thoughts you tune into your Inner World. So instead of beating yourself up with negative thoughts and untrue stories, be gentle with yourself. Lighten up and stay aware. Observe your thoughts more closely. Check in with yourself often to make sure you are being aware. Step back from any dramatic situation and wake up to awareness. This takes work but you will gain insight and those thoughts and feelings will gradually be replaced by positive thoughts, awareness and insight.
Try that exercise during this coming week. Notice what happens.

So many times we focus and concentrate on what we don’t want, instead of what we DO want. We carry these negative thoughts around with us everywhere we go, throughout the day, throughout our lives. Little do we realize that these thoughts block our energy, clutter our mind and hold us back from being the beautiful person you were meant to be.
