The Power of Intention

intention

Intentions are purposeful statement or wish that one means to carry out, determining mentally upon a specific action with a desired end result, an unbroken commitment, a resolution.  Yet, just having “good” intentions is not enough. Sometimes we need a wake up call to provoke action and get our attention, to make that connection to find balance and happiness in our lives.

An intention is something you really, REALLY want to happen.  It’s a dream that hopefully will come true.  We all have them and while we hope that our dreams come true, life presents many obstacles in our pathway.  Yet, the more you dream, or make purposeful intentions, the more likely it will happen.
Make it clear
The key to any intention is to get really clear on what you want.  Most of us don’t even know what we want.  We think we do, but do we really know?  This can take time to sort out the answers.  You have all the answers inside you.

Write them down.  Say them out loud.  Post them on your walls.  Share them with someone.

They are there waiting to be discovered.  Everything we create or want to create is exactly as it is intended to be.  So if you think that it won’t happen, it won’t.  If you think positive thoughts, the outcome of them will come to fruition.
Positive self-talk
Did you know that  90% of your subconscious mind acts on the thoughts you are thinking and it recognizes your emotions and feelings to determine what will happen in your life?  If you want positive results, an emotional connection with positive words and feelings will bring positive results.  It’s what you say to yourself that directs your life.  If you continually bring up thoughts of negativity, like, “I am just running on an endless treadmill, I am miserable and unhappy”, those are the results you will continue get.  If you aren’t getting the results you want, then change the way you talk to yourself. Your chances of success will soar.
Living life on purpose
From intention, we tangent to purpose.  When you live your life on purpose, with your intentions of service to others, making this planet a better place to live, or doing what you love that supports others for the highest good, the Universe comes back at you in unbelievable ways.
Your life is a container that holds powerful and unimaginable events and circumstances, called vibrational frequencies, that are waiting for you when you change your self-talk egoic needs to “I am here for you”.  Wanting and needing keeps you small.  When you give more, you get more.  It’s just that simple.
Give up your old beliefs
Let’s face it …. we humans don’t come with an instruction manual.  So we have to figure out what tools and information we need to live the life we want to create for ourselves.  Your subconscious may have layers and layers of things like fear (that’s a big one) and pain from previous events in your life.  When your subconscious tells you that you will never succeed, then that’s exactly what will happen.  When you tell yourself that you will never get above the poverty level, then that’s where you will stay. As long as you have limiting beliefs and thought patterns, the same things are going to keep happening to you.  Ask yourself …. “What am I afraid of?”  “What are my limiting beliefs?”
BUT, when you are clear in your intentions and beliefs, your old thoughts become your new beliefs, which in turn become new actions and new habits. You form a new character and your life changes for the better.
So, what is causing doubt in your brain?  What are the feelings that you feel in your body right now? What are your fears? Writing them down helps to sort things out in your mind.
Become aware of the things that are standing in your way of your dreams.  Don’t beat yourself up with the past.  Confront your fears, feel brave and empowered.  Leave the victim you once were behind you.  And, never look back.
When you become aware, really aware, those old beliefs that once held you back, dissolve and you shine with joy, love and creativity.  You then become the beautiful and magnificent creature you intend to be.  You become the creator of your life, not the victim of your past.
Hang in there.
If you are like me, you want things to happen NOW.  But that’s not the way it is, mostly.  There will be challenges that get in our way.  You may feel that your dreams are sealed in a box and can’t get out.  But stick with it.  Be patient.  Stay present.  Never, never give up.  One day you will wake up and the box will be open, shining a ray of light and hope beyond your wildest imagination.
Intention = Attention = Connection = Balance = Happiness
When you are consciously aware, trusting the Universe that where you are is where you are supposed to be, not judging or comparing your progress to others, life happens the way you planned.  Of course, there will be ups and downs, but nothing you can’t handle.  Live every moment in gratitude for what you have right now.  Live in the present moment.  The more you do this, the more positive things will come your way.  Positive expression of your intentions will unfold and beautiful and wonderful things will shine on you.
There is more abundance, success and happiness inside of you than you know.  I challenge you to find it.

The Most Important GIft

zen_fountain_gift_presence

The most important give you can give is your presence.
~ Marie Forleo ~

And guess what?  It doesn’t cost you a thing.  All it is is your full attention, your heartfelt love and understanding for those around you.
Today’s world is 24/7/365 madness of connection to electronics.  Our lives have gotten so hectic and busy and all we do is check our phones, emails and social media.  How many times a day do you check your phone to see if there’s a message?

We are uncomfortable with silence.

Are we losing our ability to give our full attention to anything that is silent?  Do our minds race with other thoughts when we should be giving our undivided attention to those we love and associate with?

Life is precious!  Life is short!

The best present you can ever give is your full attention.
Let’s take our focus off material things, phones, emails, TV, whatever.
Give everyone you meet, today and every day, the gift of being fully present.
That’s my word for the coming year …. PRESENT.  How about you?
However you are celebrating today, BE PRESENT.

My WORD for 2013 . . . And the winner is . . . PRESENT

Thank you to everyone for sharing your WORD for the coming year.  Instead of making the traditional, empty, soon-to-be-broken resolutions, I have been choosing a WORD for the year.  It seems a lot easier than making a commitment to something that may or may not be carried out.
Among the top New Year’s Resolutions are losing weight, quit smoking, exercise, getting organized, spend less, save more and falling in love. About 45% Americans make resolutions BUT an astounding 8% actually achieve them.
Last year my word was SHIFT.  I don’t know what there was about that word but I kept hearing it all year long.  And that is exactly what happened in for me ….. my life shifted in a positive and abundant way, for which I am grateful.
And the winner is . . .  PRESENT sent by Audrey.
PRESENCE is a noun …. not a verb.  It’s a state of BEING, not doing. In our society, a state of “being” isn’t ranked high.  Our culture places a high priority on “doing”.  BEING is an intimate connection with one’s self and others that strives for connectivity, a silent power, focus and an embodiment of spirit.
The reason I chose this WORD was because, in my humble opinion, in order for us to have any of the other WORDS like solitude, hope, abundance, connection, celebration, passion or happiness, we need to be PRESENT.  Being present helps us restore and maintain personal balance and alignment in our lives.  It helps us stay strong and keeps our negative “crap” detector in check.  All those other resolutions that we may make for the coming new year, well, being present helps us to achieve them.
So how we achieve PRESENCE?
First …. Ground yourself.  Get out of your head and into your body.  To cultivate awareness, we must feel relaxed from head to toe.  I know, sometimes that’s not easy.
Secondly, breathe.  Breathe deeply, fully and consciously.  This helps relax the stresses we are dealing with and allows our energy to flow through the body. Just ten minutes of deep breathing will help gain presence.
Thirdly, concentrate on where the tensions lie …. your shoulders, back, stomach, legs.  Give yourself permission to really, really FEEL it where your energy is blocked.  Relax and breathe into that tension.
Fourth, move your body.  Step out of the room you are in. Go for a walk. Get out into nature. Stretch.  All this helps to clear the mind, stop the mind chatter and help you relax.
Fifth, give yourself permission to be the real you.  Be aware of your true thoughts and feelings and allow them to surface.  Be authentic with yourself and others.
Sixth, let go of being a perfectionist.  This creates more tension than you realize.  Give up trying to be perfect.  None of us are.
Seven, focus on non-judgment of yourself and others.  Accept everything for what it is.
Eight is what excites you. Every day, find something that makes your energy soar and light up.  Connect with it, even if only in a small way.
Lastly, be present in this very moment.  Ask yourself, “How does it feel inside my body?”  “What do you feel right now?”   “What do I hear, smell or see in this very moment?”  Take a NOW break several times a day to keep your PRESENCE in check.
I have printed out the word PRESENT (in some of my favorite fonts) and placed it in various areas in my house, my car, my workspace, where ever I need to be reminded that I stay PRESENT.

present

So what will your WORD for the year 2013 be?  I would love to hear your choices. Please share.

I have been blessed with many followers from the humble beginnings of my blog just six months ago.  I was delighted on the first publication of my blog that I had five people that “liked” it.  That was inspiring enough to write a second.
I am very grateful for your support in these few months and the fact that you are interested enough to like, comment and follow. I find that inspiring and gratifying.  So thank you, all you fabulous bloggers out there for making the connection.
So, in light of the holiday season, I wanted to give something back to you by having a giveaway.  Since we are nearing the shortest day of the year and approaching “Longer Days”, I decided to have the drawing on December 21st at 11:11 PM.  The phrase “Longer Days” was coined by the husband, having lived in Alaska for a few years,  where the shortest day of daylight was about seven hours and 15 minutes.  And, we lived in Southeast Alaska where we got more rain than snow so daylight would disappear under a cover of ominous dark clouds.  I am so looking forward to “Longer Days” in the coming weeks.  Besides, then we won’t  have to leave the house at 4 PM in order to take our dog to the park for his daily run.  This getting dark so early messes with my internal clock.  We come back from the park, it’s totally dark and feels three hours later.  My body wants to curl up in my comfy bed and hibernate.
With that said . . . we are also approaching a New Year when everyone, well, most everyone, makes a New Year’s Resolution, which we all know won’t make it to the end of the year, let alone the month.  I, personally, don’t like to follow the crowds but instead I like to choose a WORD as my intention for the year.  A resolution sounds too demanding.  Last year my word was SHIFT.  I have a strong inclination to use that word again but need some inspiration.
So, I decided to have a contest with a give-away prize to the person that comes up with the best inspirational WORD for the coming year.
So what’s the prize, you ask?
I design Tree of Life Pendants and I would like to give one to the winner, or winners if there is a tie.
Here’s how to enter:
Answer this question . . . What would your inspirational WORD be for the coming year?  And in one sentence, why?
Then . . .
Follow me on my BLOG:  My Awakening Life (if you aren’t already)

Travel theme: Transportation

kayak_trip-end
One of the blogs I follow is Where’s My Backpack?  This week’s topic is transportation which brings me to posting the above photo.
It was the end of the day’s kayak adventure where we paddled to Clam Island, near Craig, Alaska and had a picnic on the beach.  While kayaking may not be the main mode of transportation of most people, it enables one to relax and enjoy Nature, a place to be alone with your thoughts in the vast ocean of the beauty that surrounds you.
It reminds me of a quote by Thornton Wilder:  “We can only be said to be truly alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.”
